New Waynesville Steakhouse "Cork & Cleaver"

We just returned to the inn from the grand opening of Waynesville's newest restaurant, Cork & Cleaver. This upscale steakhouse just happens to be located across the street from Brookside Mountain Mist Inn. The Waynesville Country Club has opened their upscale restaurant to the public and tonight was the premier of their wonderful chef's culinary prowess. Tonight's menu started with an appetizer sampler featuring Oyster Rockefeller, Shrimp Cocktail and Bruschetta Rustica. This course was served with Chateau St. Michelle Riesling from Washington State. The next course consisted of Maple Glazed Carolina Trout Filet (a regional specialty) and Grilled Sea Scallops with Stone Ground Aged Gouda Cheese Grits. This course was complimented with Caposaldo Pinot Grigio from Veneto Italy. Round three boasted Niman Ranch Natural Beef Sampler with Center Cut Striploin Steak and Pure Rib Eye Steak served with Au Gratin Potatoes and Asparagus. Accompanying this course was Villa Mount Eden Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa California. Of course, no great meal can be complete without a fabulous dessert. Not to be outdone, Chef James prepared Creme Brule with fresh berries. All I can say is "WOW"!

In summation, the Cork & Cleaver was a dining delight amidst the mountain rustic decor of the near century old Waynesville Country Club. We will be recommending the Cork & Cleaver to our guests seeking a fine dining experience here in Waynesville. Have I mentioned its right across the street?!
