Mountain Getaway in Western North Carolina

I recently celebrated my birthday by taking a short road trip from our bed and breakfast, Brookside Mountain Mist Inn in Waynesville, North Carolina, to Atlanta, Georgia. We went there to experience the Georgia Aquarium, the largest aquarium in the world! One of our guests gave us tickets, as he is a volunteer at the aquarium. What a great place! They have critters there I have never seen or heard of before. They even have four whale sharks. These are some monstrous fish!

The most amazing thing about our little adventure was the drive from Waynesville, North Carolina to Atlanta, Georgia. Even after living in the Smoky Mountains for almost two years, I can't get over the incredible feeling I get when I return to this beautiful area. When we arrived in Atlanta, you guessed it, there was nothing but wall to wall traffic. Everyone was in a hurry. There was an instant feeling of stress and anxiety by just driving through the city. As we ventured home, I could feel myself relaxing and decompressing. Then, when we first saw the mountains in the distance, our inner peace returned.

I guess Dorothy was right, there's no place like home. I would encourage anyone living in the Atlanta metropolitan area to come to the mountains of western North Carolina for a battery recharge and destressification (made up word, why not!). Let us show you city folks how to really relax and live life to the fullest. Come to the mountains. Come find your adventure.
