Lake Fontana Near Waynesville, North Carolina

If you're ever wondering what there is to do in the mountains of Western North Carolina, there's always boating on Lake Fontana. We just returned from an entire day of boating, picnicing and enjoying the wonderful sunshine out on Lake Fontana in Bryson City. What a great day! There's nothing like relaxing in the sunshine while lounging on a pontoon boat and taking in all the natural beauty of the surrounding mountains.

This is one of our favorite things to do when Dina's sister, Donna, comes in town for a visit. She's a little heavy on the throttle (she loves speed!) so, thank goodness, we rent a pontoon boat that keeps her in check. She still manages to get the nose of the pontoon boat up out of the water, though.

When it comes to the mountains of Western North Carolina, come for the scenery but stay for the adventure!
